Spent the weekend around Brewster County, some interesting birds, on the way in 
Saturday had three golden eagles, one definite juvenile and most likely two 
adults all in one location near the prarie dog town north of marathon right on 
the Brewster county line. The post had the usual birds, along with a brown 
creeper. At Carolyn's Christmas Mountains Oasis, had 2male lucifers, one female 
lucifers, male and female black-chinned at most likely three different rufous 
hummingbirds, the varied thrush made several appearances and a white-throated 
sparrow was among the white-crowns. Early Sunday morn before daylight, western 
screech owl was calling, we located it and took photos. Big Bend was crowded nd 
relatively birdless, of note, a single brown thrasher at Sam Nail Ranch. a 
common black hawk was a surprise at rio grande village perched in the open up 
high in the cottonwood trees at the nesting area. Balmorhea on the way home, 
only one Clarks Grebe out on the lake, several eared grebe, tree swallow 
flight, many am. pipit, and a single female common goldeneye...
