This spell of weather is forecast to intensify this afternoon and tonight
with the passage of a cold front, when having passed, it will bring the
turbulence to an end. At this peak migration date it doesn't take a lot of
weather to produce excellent migrant birding at coastal stopover sites.

Winds are flowing directly from the northern coast of Central America to
the Yucatan Peninsula and from there to the western Gulf coast. Conditions
are ripe for a major migration event if all elements come together in a
timely manner. On the other hand if the advent of turbulent weather is
delayed, last evening's flight may arrive over the coast before conditions
become such that it causes them to land at the first opportunity. Still, I
think the potential is high for excellent weekend birding along the coast.
