This morning I spent couple hours at Estero Llano Grande State Park and
then about 40 minutes at Frontera Audubon Society, both in Weslaco, Hidalgo
Co. Highlights for me were:
Estero (Tropical Zone only): several Clay-colored Thrushes singing, 2
Northern Beardless-Tyrannulets, and a pair of Red-crowned Parrots checking
out different spots.
Frontera: Green Kingfisher along the narrow "woodland pool" near the
private back-yard on the southwest side (has been hard to get for some
visitors recently), 2 Yellow-breased Chats singing along the north trail
"spur", and a Nashville Warbler at the artificial stream near the HQ. With
the southeast winds and no rain for now, it was a bit quiet, but local
breeding birds are quite busy.
