Texbirders, the Calcasieu River Pass is about 25 miles east of Jefferson County. Jetty watches all along the Texas coast are warranted this weekend (plus short distance boat trips into the nearshore Gulf if possible) seems likely to turn up Texas's first Razorbill (and second alcid of any species). There must have been a massive die-off of whatever Razorbills feed on this winter. jca John C. Boy did this trip turn up a doozy! And a big congrats to Dan O'Malley for first spotting the Razorbill. My set of photos doesn't quite stack up to Dave's, but here's an album of the trip that includes pics of the Razorbill, the California Gull, a couple red-pouched Brown Pelicans, and the pink dolphin.
