I started the day near and at Anahuac refuge where the otter family was out
on walkabout

Usually swainson's hawks do not cooperate as well

common nighthawks were sitting on the road and wires to keep dry

white-rumped sandpipers were the commonest shorebird after sanderlings

I think that this bird is a western sandpiper as its call did not sound
like a semipalmated but not really like the usual western either. It is
semi-semipalmated.

Gull-billed terns were bathing
