Well, the cold front that came in Friday late brought in the beginnings of winter ducks. At Lake Wichita on Saturday, a large number of white pelicans came in (there has been a small flock for some weeks, but well over 100 now.) Also gadwall and northern shovelers (all of the shovelers and gadwall I saw--over 100 gadwall and a couple dozen shovelers) were all female and immature. Also a fairly good size bunch of blue-winged teal and 3 black terns. Also saw my first northern harrier adjacent to the Bridwell tank and my first ring-billed gull (pretty scruffy looking) at Lake Arrowhead. -- Penny Miller Wichita Falls, TX http://charmoffinches.blogspot.com
