I kayaked the Colorado River between Little and Big Webberville Parks this morning along with Sheila Hargis and Laurie Foss from 7:15am to 11:00am and tallied 42 species that I can recall. Highlights for me were 2 Yellow-crowned Night-herons and a Louisiana Waterthrush. List is below. I don't count them. No Bald Eagle, Barred Owl or Red-tailed Hawks which I usually see further down the river. > Colorado river between Little W and Big W > 42 species seen or heard on 8/11/12. > Great Blue Herons > Great Egrets > Snowy Egret > Little Blue Herons (1 adult, 2-3 juveniles) > Cattle Egrets > Green Herons (5) > Yellow-crowned Night-Herons (2) > Black Vultures (50) > Turkey Vultures > Red-shouldered Hawks (6) > Crested Caracaras (2) > Killdeers (5-6) > Spotted Sandpipers > Solitary Sandpiper > White-winged Doves > Inca Dove > Yellow-billed Cuckoos (5-6) > Chimney Swifts > Belted Kingfisher > Red-bellied Woodpeckers > Downy Woodpecker > Eastern Phoebes > Brown-crested Flycatcher > Scissor-tailed Flycatchers > White-eyed Vireos > Blue Jay > American Crow > Purple Martin > Cliff Swallows (maybe Bank Swallows too) > Carolina Chickadees > Titmouse sp. > Carolina Wrens > Blue-gray Gnatcatcher > Louisiana Waterthrush (1) > Yellow Warbler (1) > Summer Tanager (1) > Northern Cardinals > Indigo Bunting > Painted Bunting > Red-winged Blackbird (1) > Common Grackles Ruby-throated Hummingbird (1) Kerri Chambers Webberville, TX Kerridiann.chambers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds
