This morning's bird walk was highlighted by many migrants. We only totaled 37
species but it was a fun 37 species. Some highlights were two Black-and-white
Warblers, one Nashville, one Magnolia, one Yellow and one Black-throated Green.
Two Warbling Vireos, and at least one Red-eyed Vireo. Two Great-crested
Flycatchers and one magnificent, bright and crisp Baltimore Oriole. Two Broad
winged Hawks, a fresh photographed Viceroy and a snake sticking its head out of
a bird box. Fun stuff.
Our bird walks are 8:30 to about 10:30 or 11 each Wednesday. They are free and
people of all levels of birding skills are welcome.
Join us this Saturday, September 17, from 10 - 11 am, in the nature center
auditorium as we begin our new monthly series on Conservation Pioneers. Our
first program will explore Henry David Thoreau of Walden fame. These programs
are designed for adults and more mature students. There will be a repeat
presentation the following Wednesday, September 21, from 3 - 4 pm, for those
unable to attend Saturday's program.
