Howdy All!
The rain finally stopped and the birds came out. I was able to get out and
check out a couple of the spots we are going to for this Saturday's bird tour.
The Blackjack Nature Trail was a little slow this afternoon, but did have
wintering sparrows, a few Brown-headed Nuthatches, and a Winter Wren. The
beaver pond is still one of the best spots to see Pileated Woodpeckers. The
area is also good for Lincoln's and Swamp Sparrows. I'm heading out in the
morning to get a better feel for where the birds are going to be this weekend.
Join us this Saturday, February 15th at 8:15am at the park headquarters for a
birding tour of the park. We will get in the park's van and bird the park's
hotspots for about 2 hours. It's going to be a little chilly, so dress warm and
let's go birding!
