Hi there, Today, we birded Thompson's Bait camp and the end of Tri-City road overlooking Ash Lake. There were at least 20,000 gulls. Highlights today included 2 different first winter Iceland Gulls (yes, 2!) 1 first winter Glaucous Gull 2 Great Black-backed Gulls 1 adult California Gull 3-4 Thayer's Gulls One Thayer's Gull was at Thompson's bait camp and all the others were in Ash Lake between Tri-city and the dumpsite. The dumpsite is strictly closed to the public. It is very clear that unauthorized entry is prohibited so please do not try. You can see most of these from the end of Tri-city road on the Harris county side, but you need a high powered scope and a lot of patience; sometimes these birds will loaf in Ash lake within decent viewing, or even go to Thompson's. Beware of nails at the end of Tri-city road, so park afar and walk down. Do not go alone.
