additions brought his site list up to 120 species for 2015.

Anthony Hewetson ended the month of March with 84 species on his Clapp Park
bird list for 2015. During April he added Spotted Sandpiper, Swainson's
Hawk, Turkey Vulture, Barn Swallow, Cliff Swallow, Louisiana Waterthrush,
Ash-throated Flycatcher, Great Blue Heron, Rock Wren, Green Heron, American
Avocet, Cassin's Sparrow, Black-chinned Hummingbird, Yellow Warbler, Common
Poorwill, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Red-shouldered Hawk, Chipping
Sparrow, Nashville Warbler, Cattle Egret, White-faced Ibis, Solitary
Sandpiper, Indigo Bunting, Western Kingbird, Gray Catbird, Black-and-white

Chimney Swift, Clay-colored Sparrow, Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, House Wren,
Wilson's Warbler, Snowy Egret, Lark Sparrow, Tree Swallow, and Orchard
Oriole. These thirty-eight additions brought his site list up to 122
species for 2015.

You will note that I am listing species in order of chronological
appearance on their respective list. This will allow the close reader to
get a better feel for how the seasons play out in the two, very different
areas.

At the end of April, with almost no water in the playa at Clapp Park,
Anthony was still feeling a bit of pessimism. At this point in the game,
with way too much water in the playa at Clapp Park (due to the incredible
storms during the first week of May), the pessimism comes from the opposite
direction - too much water for his 'ace in the hole' shorebirds. On the
other hand, he did end the month of April two birds up ... so Rich has a
bit o' catching up to do.

Anthony 'Fat Tony' Hewetson; Lubbock
