TexBirders,
The rainy pattern currently happening over much of central and north Texas
looks like it may clear out after Tuesday. The forecast for Wednesday (10/10)
in Austin is for clearing skies and north winds. This could be reeeeally good
for hawk migration. Watch your local weather for the timing of that frontal
passage. The hawks will be moving on it, and perhaps even ahead of it a little
if there is not widespread rain. Prime area for the Swainson’s migration
ranges from the eastern edge of the Hill Country (Austin, San Antonio) westward
to the Del Rio and San Angelo areas. The migration usually proceeds down
through the upper part of the LRGV, e.g. from Laredo down to Falcon Dam, etc.
Some of the movement (but not the majority) moves through the Coastal Bend
hawkwatch areas but is usually further inland (e.g. Alice, Falfurrias).
Enjoy the spectacle!
