Jan and I spent the afternoon with Tony on the Smith Point Tower watching a beautiful show of migrants today. Lots of Broad-winged Hawks and I got to see 16 of the Dark morph birds. Considering I had never seen one until last Sunday down there that was pretty neat. I think that makes my life total around 22 now. Lots of Am White Pelicans to spice up the day as well. We also saw our first Bald Eagle of the fall and one White-tailed hawk. After 4 PM when Tony closed up shop we ran down to Robbin's Park and found the Nelson's Sparrows that have been seen down there lately. They are still hanging out around the ditch just before entering the park. We saw at least 10 and I think that number was way low.
