Nice partial morning at Santa Ana Refuge, Hidalgo Co. Got quite windy but
nice to see Scarlet Tanagers (male and female) low along trail along east
side of Willow Lake. Fascinated to see 6 Gull-billed Terns on western
section of Pintail Lake--don't usually see that many (or any) here. I saw
courtship feeding 3-4 times, as birds (presumably males) foraged along
canal near vis. ctr. and flew back to Pintail with small food items (not
fish). Redhead seemed a bit late (and always fairly unusual here). I did
not check eastern section of Pintail so more waterbirds were likely present.
