Gee, I have to say something. The Valley Land Fund has always been about habitat preservation. They are not a birding organization and owe nothing to the birding community. We owe them. I'm always thankful for their hard work when I visit their Sheepshead lot on South Padre Island where habitat for migrating birds decreases with each passing year. Regarding Salineno, the Valley Land Fund has the right to do whatever it wants. Security and liability is a rightful concern. What a shame it would be for something bad to happen just so "birders" can sit around a see birds without exerting any effort. Would it kill birders to actually walk around a bit to find birds? Maybe even learn a few calls? Sometimes life is tough and you have to put in a little effort. Dan Jones, Weslaco P.S. I would give my opinion about safety concerns but I don't want to upset the local business community.
