All - Snowys perch on exposed points in the arctic because there are NO oak trees or maple trees to sit in like a Red-tail does. When they come down to the Lower 48, they choose buildings, light poles, traffic signs, dock pilings, channel markers, driftwood logs, and tippy-tops of lone trees. They go with what they know. Unless it was chasing a rabbit or some other prey species, a Snowy Owl would never even consider hunting inside a forest, much less roost on a branch halfway up a big ol' tree.
