Today, Saturday 13 Feb 16 I had a Rose-breasted Grosbeak come to a backyard
feeder twice in the early afternoon. It appears to be a 1st winter male,
but I would value any comment or correction to this aging notion.
Within the last day or two I got a glance [once] of a bird leaving the
feeder with yellowish under the wings. It was too small a bird to be a
flicker, plus I had not heard a flicker in the yard in weeks. So I was on
the alert for a possible RBGR. Late morning I heard the familiar song, so
was even more on alert. Naturally this is an unbelievable early date. BLOT
states that 18 March is an “extreme early date”.
I have two pics posted on my Dropbox account. Both were taken through a
glass door with zoom. I was able to zoom the pics on Dropbox as well. You
don't have to log onto Dropbox
