Hi there, This morning at Alice's Garden, next to Huff House near the main entrance to Rice University, Ben Van Allen had Broad-tailed Hummingbird. It was feeding in the turk's caps. There may have been a second Broad-tailed as well. There was one Ruby-throated. Also, 10 Franklin's Gulls flew over at the same time we saw the broad-tailed hummingbird. we've had quite a few migrants this fall at Rice, but numbers are lower, especially sparrows. This may be because the very productive weedlot from last year has been mowed down. CT Lee Houston
