Subject: [texbirds] Purple Sandpiper continues in Point Comfort.
Texbirders:
The Purple Sandpiper continues in Point Comfort about one month after first
being discovered on February 16. The bird was in it's normal spot about
100 yards from the entrance to the old Hwy 35 road bed, on some concrete
riprap. I drove past it the first time and saw the bird on the return.
The back feathers seem more worn than a month ago and I saw no evidence of
molt yet.

The bird continues to thrill visiting birders with close looks and great
photo opportunities. If you haven't seen the bird yet, it's not too

Ortego, the eBird reviewer for Calhoun County, reports that over 200
birders have posted eBird reports on the Purple Sandpiper since 2/16/18.
Hopefully it will stay for a while longer. Some previous Purple Sandpiper
records indicate that those birds stayed into early May.
