Each month the Rio Brazos Audubon Society (Bryan/College Station) holds a
free bird walk we call Birding 101. This morning participants saw
approximately two dozen Purple Martins at Finfeather Lake in Bryan. This
was the earliest I have seen this species since I started keeping records.
Finfeather Lake is home to many wintering ducks, particularly Buffleheads.
I'm estimating that we saw about 80 Bufflehead this morning.
