While this is not the exact location you are requesting information about, I
hope it is pertinent to point out another booming ground location.
At the April 1976 American Birding Association convention, there was an
optional field trip to see Attwater’s Prairie Chickens.
The full-sized bus pulled up along a small road adjacent to the Hobby Airport.
There along the south east end of the then small and quaint airport were a
group of male Prairie Chickens actively displaying fighting and otherwise
totally ignoring anything including the bus.
Quite a few nationally prominent birders were on that particular bus trip.
