This morning(07/25), Mike Egar and I spent 2 hours checking out Polly Wog - and
what a blast we had!
Not that you needed me to say it - but migration has begun...
Highlights included several Willow Flycatchers(seen and heard), Orchard
Orioles, Spotted and Pectoral Sandpipers; and the highlight of the day for this
Corpus Christi HawkWatcher: an adult Broad-winged Hawk(light morph), circling
up, near the Refuge entrance. Awesome!
Other way cool stuff:
Herons: Yellow-crowned Night- , Green, Little Blue, Tricolored
Hawks: Red-tailed, Swainson's, Red-shouldered
Kingbirds: Couch's, Western
Grebes: Least, Pied-billed
Miscellaneous: Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Painted Bunting, Yellow-billed
Cuckoo, Least Sandpiper, Lesser Yellowlegs, Killdeer, Green Kingfisher, Great
Kiskadee, White-eyed Vireo, Northern Cardinal, American White Pelican,
Gull-billed Tern, Black-bellied Whistling-Duck
A 40 inch Texas Indigo Snake was icing on the cake...
Eyes to the Skies,
