Hi Texbirders,
Lake Bardwell was very birdy this morning. The highlight was a Palm
Warbler on the NW corner of the intersection of N. Cooke Rd. and Old
Waxahachie Road. Also at this location was a Red-breasted Nuthatch. At the
Observation Overlook area I had two White-eyed Vireos counter
singing/calling near the circular drive. Also had a Caracara along Ensign
Road. Lake Bardwell has been holding about all the expected ducks for the
last week or so. Ebird shows no records of Palm Warbler in Ellis County. I
was able to get a photo of one on the White-eyes and the nuthatch, but not
the Palm Warbler. I got two quick but good views of the Palm and its
distinctive tail bobbing. Bird appeared to be a "western" Palm. Both of
these locations were hopping this morning and I managed about 65 species in
a couple of hours.
