Or hone your French accent...?
We heard no owls this weekend either, during a camp out on Lake Mathis. Maybe
the birds are too busy wooing each other.

Last night the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Austin Area Wildlife
Rehabilitation and Travis Audubon had a neat event that might be copied
elsewhere.
From 6-630 folks got to try a beer made by Blue Owl Brewery here in town-
this appealed to a younger demographic that we don't often see at birdy
events, then Ed Sones of Wildlife Rehab gave an excellent presentation with
his education owls, and last we had a walk in the moonlit gardens at the
center, looking and listening. Alas, the owls were quiet, but everyone had
a fun time. Athena, the resident Great Horned, had been quite cooperative
earlier in the week.
Twice in the past week I have had to explain that Travis Audubon does not
have any connection with the German road system. These were 20-30
something males. One was very perplexed last night. The other just
diligently wrote down autobahn as part of my contact info. I need to hone
my JJ Audubon talking points.
