As for whether an Osprey is taking birds for lunch, I have observed an 
Osprey hunting over a small pond filled with Redhead ducks and the ducks 
were not in the least bit alarmed or frightened by the predator just over 
their heads.

Somehow they knew they were not in danger, I presume.  There was no interest 
whatsoever displayed by the ducks in the Osprey.
