Howdy Texbirders, There are Baltimore Orioles all over this area of west Houston. I live one mile from Houston Audubon's Edith L. Moore Sanctuary. At ELM, I had some Sycamores festooned with primarily Baltimore, but there was an Orchard present. As I rode my bike home, I saw orioles along the way and at our condo, I had a couple of trees with seventeen orioles in them. There are orioles now outside my window. A very impressive migration. Additionally, at ELM, I saw 13 species of warblers and there were two other species seen, by other birders, that I missed. Also, around ELM were Wood and Swainson's Thrushes, Gray Catbird, Philadelphia and Red-eyed Vireo, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and Indigo Buntings and 15 Mississippi Kites and 2 Broad-winged Hawk lifted off and headed north. It was a wonderful morning and I met some nice birders (some who were on the Wednesday bird walk led by Bethany Foshee) who probably saw even more species. A great time to be back on the UTC (Upper Texas Coast) Dennis West Houston (Rummel Creek Riparian Woodland) Harris County -- W.
