Hey there,
Went birding from Princeton up to Anna TX hitting up Sister Grove Creek area on
Lake Lavon, one of the crossings across the East Fork of the Trinity just to
the north, and then up 570 towards Anna. Sister Grove Creek had a Forsters
Tern, an early Black-throated Green Warbler, and a few Yellow Warblers. Along
the Trinity had adult male Indigo and Painted Buntings, not used to seeing male
PABUs this late. On RD570 had an HO Inca Dove, an immature Yellow-crowned
Night-Heron, and a female American Redstart. Also stopped by a large stock pond
on RD573 which had Great and Snowy Egrets, Little Blue Heron, Spotted and Least
Sandpipers, and an HO flyover Upland Sandpiper. This pond was where I heard the
second Inca Dove.
Are Inca Doves regular this far north? I know they are sometimes reported from
Dallas Co, but Ive never seen one. Was surprised to hear two calling yesterday.
Good birding,
Christian Walker
