Greetings All:
Yesterday a (somewhat early) Yellow Warbler was working over the bugs in my
mimosa trees. I saw several Yellow Warblers in Hockley County so this is
a) not early or b) there's a bunch of 'em.
Most of today was devoted to Hockley County and I saw more Painted Buntings
in one day than I have seen in all of my previous visits to the county
combined. There is a very big wave of Painted Buntings (adult males, adult
females, and immatures) moving through the region. There was a male in the
sunflowers in my backyard when I got home and several were in the tall
trees at Spirit Ranch in Lubbock this evening.
On the other hand, hummingbirds have dried up completely - eight feeders
hanging and not a single hummingbird this week.
