The 25th running of this CBC was held yesterday
Started off with the TNC rail team at midnight flushing over 1 dozen Yellow
Rails
This energy/determination carried forth throughout the day as a record number
of birders worked through a day of rain
219 species were reported which included Whooping Cranes, Black-throated Gray
Warbler, Mourning Warbler, Western Tanager and Summer Tanager
With day long rain there were plenty of wet birders and stuck vehicles
Eric Carpenter and Petra Hockey were voted as the “Wettest” birders as they
conducted a sea watch throughout the day and only coming in to avoid lightning
