Hi all - Well, my travel schedule in January was pretty hectic, so I only really had about 4 or 5 days to do any serious Patch Birding. That said, the 125 species for January, 2013 was not too bad. Good birds were: My Yard - Bald Eagle flyby, Royal Tern flyby, Rufous Hummingbirds Hazel Bazemore County Park - Black Phoebe, Say's Phoebe, Song Sparrow, Gray Catbird, Brown Pelican, Pollywog Ponds - Groove-billed Ani, Hermit Thrush, Barred Owl seen in daylight, Elsewhere - Common Goldeneye, White-tailed Hawk Missed species that were certainly present: Common Ground Dove, Green Kingfisher, Wood Duck (at Hazel B. on the CBC), Sora, Buff-bellied Hummingbird. Bummer. Like Judy, Kestner, I did cruise around parts of the circle, looking for new places to bird. Unlike Judy, I did not find any gems in the rough. :( My February schedule is also going to be pretty tight, so my Patch Birding time will be limited. I did get out today, but will report that in a different e-mail. Clay Taylor Swarovski Optik North America, Inc.
