At the [LLELA] Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area's monthly bird walk this morning the birds were far and few between but we did see great looks of Golden-crowned Kinglets, Brown Creepers, a Flicker and a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. Most of the ducks and sparrows have started their migration north as very few were seen. BUT….the rains we had put water in a lot of the areas that have been bone dry all winter. Also at the [LLELA] monthly bird walk this morning, I was reminded what birding is all about. It's not about finding a bird, checking it off your list and hurrying to find the next one. It's about sharing and watching a young new birder see a Cardinal for the 1st time through his binoculars. Or sharing and watching the sheer excitement of that 11 year old new birder spotting a Great Blue Heron lift up off the water to fly gracefully over the treetops. Thank you Jack! Come to LLELA and get excited about the everyday birds and get re-acquainted with the love of birding. Sue YOST ~^/^~ Denton Co.
