Also, grant monies are readily available for binos and guides.  Audubon gave me 
a grant for student needs several years ago, and Eagle Optics matched it.  
Plus, I want to sit on a Steve Gross bench. :)

I like the idea of using the fund monies for habitat acquisition. That's harder 
to come by than binoculars and bird books. I can donate quite a few bird guides 
myself.
