Texbirders,
Along with 4 or more Mag. Frigatebirds, there is a collection of (at least) six
species of terns being observed at Lake Long (a.k.a. Decker Lake) from the boat
launch area. (9:45 - 11:45 a.m., and several birders still there when I left)
Black Tern - 12+
Forster’s Tern - 6 or so
Royal Tern - 2 or 3
Sooty Tern - 1 adult (very conspicuous)
Sandwich Tern - 1 ad. seen several times
Caspian Tern - 1 made one pass then ??
We may be overlooking Common Tern but there were no obvious candidates.
