I spent the day in SE Kleberg County and tallied 68 species. Wind was strong
so good shorebird habitat was scarce due to higher tide levels, Drought
conditions persist in this area so nearly all the ponds were dried up.
Highlights for me included:
250 Cave Swallows on a utility wire at Escondido Creek S of Kingsville on 77
14 Crested Caracaras in a field off a county road
100 Black-bellied Whistling Ducks in a dry field on CR 2220 and 300 at Sea Wind
RV resort pond
2 Upland Sandpipers on CR 2340
6 Groove-billed Anis on CR 2340
2 Greater Roadrunner on CR 2300
2 Cactus Wren on CR 2302
