Glenn, Thanks for the info. I have been to Drum Point on 3 or 4 occasions
and I knew it was worst each time I went but did not know it was this bad.
If there is any plans for a cleanup I would be happy to donate my
time..Again thanks for the pictures, I'm glad they made the decision to
close this to the public, it looks like the county did not even make an
effort to clean this up.

Jim is 100% correct about Drum Point garbage and sanitary issues. Lest you
think the landowner overreacted by closing Drum Point, just take a look at
the Baffin Bay shore, which I've documented on the website below. Despite
yearly beach cleanups, I gave up documenting the filth after 2009, namely
because it just keeps getting worse. I've hauled many bags of trash away,
yet this still has to be the filthiest beach in south Texas.
It's shameful. While everybody is having self-richeous conniptions about
wind turbines, just take a look at what's at your feet.

The owners had granted the county long term access under a lease agreement
that required the county to keep trash picked up and to minimize any damage
to the property. The county has been in violation of the lease agreement
for some time. Not only has the place had trash for long periods of time,
there were even some incidents of owner's livestock being killed.
The owners finally decided to terminate the lease for cause.
Of course, the county, in their infinite wisdom is trying to force it back
open - not trying to address the problems of the county regularly violating
the lease agreement.
