A small number of have had a recent off grid discussion on the topic
prompted by a Trans Pecos report. While genetics have confirmed that there
is hybridization with the GLIB, the same efforts have not really been done
to detect that in WFIB so, I am thinking there are still some soft spots
where we best be careful on how we determine hybrids vs. variations. Donna

I have been monitoring a pair of Least Grebes for months in Williamson
Co. (Cedar Park and am very happy to report that my suspicions panned out
this morning after seeing both adults and at least two tiny young with
heads popping out between the wings of one of the adults. This provides
what I am sure is a county breeding record if not a Hill County record this
far north. I will post one of my "National Geographic" images or two to
Ebird and a couple of the more obscure FB pages I use in a bit.
Had three White-rumped Sandpipers at Devine Lake this AM which are a good
find this far west and north.
Both White-crowned and Savannah Sparrows are still present here and are
photographed
Otherwise, I have always thought , for my own purposes, that after May
7, the migration has peaked and starts to wane. Still a lot of migrants to
come, but except for the sparrows and shorebirds above, the date and the
south winds seemed to have scoured out the passerine stuff this morning on
my usual spots..
