Greetings All: I don't know what is going on but this morning (pre-first-light) my backyard sunflower patch was teeming with songbirds. As I drove to work, I noted small groups of songbirds in a lot of the weedier yards. With enough light, finally, to see by as I walked from my parking space to the TTU HSC building I realized that there were tens, possibly hundreds, of small sparrows on the lawns and in the trees. Three out of four were Chipping Sparrows, the others were all Clay-colored Sparrows - so far as could be told with the naked eye. This is roughly consistent with the highlights from my yard yesterevening -1 Wilson's Warbler, 8 Chipping Sparrows, and 6 Clay-colored Sparrows - but much more pronounced.
