Hello Fellow Texbirders,
Today, I noticed at my bird feeder at home a female House Sparrow attack a
House Sparrow fledgling that was chasing her for food. Four male House
Sparrows flew to the fledgling to protect it from the female House Sparrow.
The female House Sparrow flew to the fence and stayed there for about 5
minutes then rejoined the flock peacefully and ate at the bird feeder with
the rest of House Sparrows; including the fledglings.
Very interesting! I wonder if it was her fledgling or another fledgling
that got confused.
Has anyone noticed this type of behavior among House Sparrows and their
fledglings?
