I just got back from the Valley, tried for the owl at SPI. I got to see every
million (visible) branch in its hiding place, but no owl for me. oh sob.

So yesterday morning I went up 510 and branched off to Ted Hunt Road. At the
resaca by the side of the road, I found one adult hooded oriole. I think they
are rare in the winter.

I don't do ebirds. I may have to break down and start using it, but texbirds
was supposed to be my one stop shop for bird sightings. I hate counting birds
and doing a lot of clicking off lists. I'm probably not alone in this form of
laziness.
