On 5-25-16, a sighting of a green violetear hummingbird that occurred on
5-19-16 at the feeder at Sabinal River Lodge in Utopia was mentioned on
Texas Rare Bird Alerts (NARBA). Since the sighting occurred almost a week
ago, I assumed that the green violetear hummingbird had moved on. However,
I called Sabinal River Lodge to be sure, and spoke with Sandy Morris, one of
the contacts for the lodge. Sandy told me that she had been ill, so she had
been unable to fill the feeders for several days. I am posting the
information in case anyone is contemplating a trip to Utopia to look for the
hummingbird. The green violetear was reported on an incidental checklist in
eBird by Cindy Sperry on 5-19-2016. I was unable to locate any subsequent
reports of the bird.
