I was able to relocate the reported Hammond's Flycatcher at the Dickenson Steps
yesterday afternoon. It was very active in the bottoms and river edge never
more than 30 yards from where the steps trail comes down. Neat bird to watch
and try and figure out.
Was able to locate a couple other Granger specialties. Had a single? Mountain
Plover on the east side of 347 about 1/4 mile south of 378. Was in the field
between the two farm houses. Also finally got the Burrowing Owl in the culvert
on 352 south of Alligator road. Great looks from 20 ft. I had previously only
found the one at the rock pile but he wasn't out today. Missed Short Eared Owl
at Sore Finger field... anyone had one this year there?
