As the morning tour departed Laguna Atascosa NWR this morning, we
encountered 7 Groove-billed Anis on the entrance road about half way
between the last speed bump and the plowed field on the right side of the
road. They were first on the right side in the bar ditch and then flew to
to other side where they stayed in the grass and in the shrubs providing
all 8 visitors in the van excellent views as their first "lifer" for the
tour.
