Greetings Texbirders,
Today's walk brought together folks of all skill levels and there was
something for everyone. This was our last walk of the season and it was
wonderful, albeit bittersweet. The most experienced birder with us, a
former professional bird guide in Africa, got every target bird he had plus
some he hadn't thought to ask for (if you count the "heard only" Ringed
Kingfisher.) Olive Sparrows gave us the best looks we've had all season.
And everyone got to watch a gorgeous Altamira Oriole begin work on a nest,
no binoculars needed. It doesn't get much better than that!
Though we personally are migrating, guided walks continue daily through the
end of the month. Meet at the Visitor Center at 8:30am. HawkWatch is from
8am-1pm every day through April 15. Spotters are needed and everyone is
welcome.
