We decided to look for the Crimson-collared Grosbeak photographed about 8
AM this morning by bird tour participants. While we dipped on that bird, we
had a wonderful quiet, grackle free experience.
When the noisy bullies desert the feeding stations, the good little birds
come out to play and feed and drink.
Highlights were Hermit Thrush, 3 Catbirds drinking together, Olive Sparrow,
and White-eyed Vireo.
Lesson to be learned, late afternoon is a good birding time, too, not just
early morning.
