Forgot to mention that we still have at least one of our Buff-bellied Hummingbirds along with an influx of juvenile and adult Ruby-throats.

Our Flame Acanthuses have started to bloom again, just in time after being deluged with the 20+ inches of rain we had over a three day period last month. They just don't like being over watered. We lost some of out drought tolerant Salvia Greggii. And, will be increasing the amount of sugar water in our feeders in preparation for the big migration influx.

Confirmed sighting of a Rufous Hummingbird on our Flame Acanthus and
then a couple of feeders down here 3 miles east of Blessing in western
Matagorda County on Sunday, Aug 19. Did hear another one in a Live Oak
at the same time. Thought I had heard one in a Hackberry on Friday and
Saturday, but this was an eye to eye encounter with the hummer about 15
feet away.
