Saw the little owl from 5:30 pm till he flew out at 6:30 pm. During that hour, it was only partially visible through spotting scope. At about 6:20 pm, it preened for about 10 minutes before flying down to a very visible branch and perching for about 30 seconds (it was very dark by that time); then it flew out towards the gazebo area by the boardwalk and on out. I got the worst photo ever, at ISO 12800, but can tell that it is the owl. Not a wasted trip, though, as it was a lifer owl for both Dan and myself. Today, about 30+ people were looking for the bird, but no one could find it, not even the little blob of his head seen yesterday.
