I'd like to thank Bob Friedrichs and his uncle Jay. Their hospitality and generosity have been outstanding! It's a true privilege to have such folks among the Texas birding community. I enjoyed meeting Mike Dupree and his youngest son. I hope I am still enjoying the birds after such a distinguished span of years:-) I took hundreds of photos of the Flamingo pair, and look forward to more fully researching the story behind these two. I think there is a lot of romance in their tale. Are there any facts or educated guesses as to where/how these two birds first encountered each other? The Greater Flamingo is certainly a well traveled bird! From Tanzania to South Africa, then Wichita and Kansas City before escaping and being spotted in Wisconsin, Louisiana, and Texas; incredible!
