The female-type Flame-colored Tanager showed well this afternoon, 22
December, between 4:00 and 4:45 PM on the west side of the San Antonio
River south of Brackenridge Park close to where River Road intersects with
Magnolia Drive (as noted by others previously). At one point the bird
perched at eye level in a sapling bald cypress for over 12 minutes.
This bird was first discovered by Barbara Sykes and Becca Taylor on
Friday, 17 December. Only the fourth winter record for the state and first
record for Bexar County.

The escaped/ released exotic Ringed Teal was mixed in with a small group
of Wood Ducks in the river at this same location.
