Had to go to Houston yesterday and we drove through the prairie twice going and
coming. A sure sign of fall is large flocks of blackbirds. They were mostly
cowbirds, Several flocks on the wires of several hundred each. Of a more
colorful note, were two nice groups of Roseate Spoonbills on the Katy Prairie
Conservancy pond visible from Hebert Road.
Congratulations to the Katy Prairie Conservancy who just received accreditation
from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission of the Land Trust Alliance.
