Passing this on for South Texas coastal folks to keep a head's up! Don't
forget the Whooper that showed up in a flock of Sandhills near Laguna
Atascosa last year during the LRG Bird Festival!

Subject: Possible Whooper flying SB with Sandhill's on Tuesday along King
Ranch shoreline south of Baffin Bay?
Mary Beth;
I know that you are very active in South Texas on TEXBIRDS
and I wanted to mention that on Tuesday morning, while fishing with my son
along the King Rach shoreline at the mouth of Baffin Bay and the ICW, we saw
a flock of Sandhill's flying south bound. The lead bird was white with black
wingtips and I thought it may be a whooper. It was definitely a crane and
the ones following were grayish brown and looked like Sandhill's to me. I
asked my friend and he said that he had never heard of them flying together
but I don't think this was a luecustic bird, the contrast was too clear and
the tips were definitely black. They were pretty high but I wanted to tell
you in case you see any flocks of sandhills?
